The estate villages of North Cyprus offer a taste of ancient life. These quaint little towns transport you to a time when neighbors were family and the town raised children, a time when children could safely roam the streets and parents knew that instead of being a threat to their children, the adults of the community cared for the welfare of each and every one of the children. North Cyprus’s estate villages are located around the island, from the coast to the olive tree-clad mountain slopes, offering stunning views and picturesque landscapes. Located 6 miles from Kyrenia city center, the town of Alsancak offers easy access to the beach and features a leaning monument to the Turkish troops who landed on the beach to liberate the Turkish Cypriots. From the village of Baspinar, perched high above Kyrenia, hiking in the Besparmak mountains is within easy reach, as is a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean in all its glory.

Standing sentinel over the north coast of Cyprus is The Abbey, perched on a natural terrace just below the town of Bellapais. Bellapais is also home to an ancient mulberry tree called the “Tree of Idleness”. The name comes from ancient folklore suggesting that anyone who sits under the tree becomes lazy and doesn’t work. There are many other North Cyprus owned towns dotted around the island, many of which offer a fine mix of old churches, buildings and ruins peacefully blending with modern facilities providing the comforts of this day and age. Rarely is it possible for a person to walk out of a modern restaurant and end a meal by exploring ancient ruins that transport you back to a time when gods and goddesses roamed the earth, the skies, and the seas.

Are you ready to leave the hustle and bustle of the modern world behind and experience a time almost forgotten? Are you ready to return to a time of peace and serenity, love and friendship, a place where crime is unheard of and not the subject of every newscast?
