Chicken dishes are a weekend party favorite. Even a simple rotisserie chicken can brighten your day when paired with the perfect glass of wine. So, have you decided which one you are going to serve this weekend? Well, chicken can be paired with many of the wines, but knowing what goes best with your dish can earn you some accolades. So before serving your guest at brunch, first determine the type of wine that goes best with the different chicken recipes.

  • Red wines

When it comes to red wine, then you will have to go for chicken with lots of tomato and pepper sauce. Among the high-end wine varieties, we suggest that you open a bottle of Merlot. Jam wine will go perfectly with thick tomato recipes. How can we forget about the all-time favorite, chicken with barbecue sauce? Serve this with a full-bodied glass of Shiraz wine. The richer the preparation of the dishes, the more tannic wine you can have. However, if you opt for cold dishes, opt for Brachetto, a red wine from Italy.

  • White wines

A light white oak wine is considered the best to pair with a cheesy version of chicken dishes. Some of those recipes are chicken tetrazzini, chicken salads, chicken in a creamy sauce, and other mild chicken curries. So if you’re cooking something around this, go for an oak Chardonnay, Viognier, Chenin Blanc, or Sauvignon Blanc. Among these, Sauvignon Blanc is the best bait if the chicken is prepared with aromatic herbs, especially when it comes to rosemary and thyme. However, if you are looking for something spicy, aromatic whites will work perfectly.

When we say spicy, it means that it will include the world’s hottest chicken dishes such as Thai green chicken curry or chicken tikka masala or Chinese sweet and sour chicken. Open a bottle of medium dry Riesling and Pinot Gris and make Sunday brunch a memorable one for guests. The rest is up to your taste, as the variety of white wines is an all-time favorite.

  • Rosé Wines

When it comes to chicken and wine pairing, medium-bodied rosé wine can even beat white and red wine. Keep the flavors intense with the use of olives, saffron, anchovy and garlic and serve the grilled chicken with roses from southern France and Spain. Also, stick with the dried roses until the sauce is very sweet.

There are also other wines that your guests may like and one of those and that is cider, serve it with roast chicken. Even sparkling wines are in demand when it comes to frying chicken.
