One of the Wenatchee area’s main strengths is the myriad of outdoor recreational activities available there. From rock climbing, boating, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and much more; there are very few outdoor activities you can’t take part in when visiting the Wenatchee area. Camping is also popular in the area, as seen by the large number of campsites in the area. Here’s a look at some of the best camping spots in the Wenatchee, Washington area.

Lincoln Rock State Park

Just a few minutes north of Wenatchee, on the eastern bank of the Columbia River, is Lincoln Rock State Park. This park is extremely popular with those looking to participate in water recreation activities on the Columbia River. It is located immediately north of the Rocky Reach Dam, which is also a fun and interesting place to visit. RV spaces, tent camping spaces and cabins are available at the park in Lincoln Rock. There is also a small tent, a swimming area and a jetty.

Camp Nason Creek

Nason Creek Campground is located on Nason Creek, right outside the park and campground next to Lake Wenatchee. The creek flows directly through the campground and right next to several campsites. The setting is beautiful and there are a number of fun activities to do in the area including boating, hiking, fishing, golf and horseback riding.

Daroga State Park

Daroga State Park is located about 30 minutes north of Wenatchee, on the east bank of the Columbia River. The park is uniquely set up, with a portion of the campgrounds only accessible via a long paved road that passes over a bridge that separates a small protected water area from the Columbia River. There are climbing toys and a swimming area at Daroga State Park and it has a great view of the Columbia River and the high rocky bluffs on the other side.

Lake Chelan State Park

Sitting on the southern shore of Lake Chelan, a beautiful 51-mile long glacier-fed lake, is Lake Chelan State Park. The park is about 45 minutes north of Wenatchee and to get there the traveler must pass through the community of Entiat and then through Navarre Coulee. Lake Chelan State Park features open and secluded campsites, a boat launch, a camp store, a swimming area, picnic facilities, and a playground.

Alta Lake State Park

A little over an hour north of Wenatchee is Alta Lake State Park. This small park is located near the community of Pateros, just a few miles from where the Methow River empties into the Columbia River. The park features campsites, a camp store, swimming area, boat launch, and more. It offers a wonderfully secluded rustic setting and sits on the shores of the two mile long Alta Lake. There is a trail that leads all the way around the lake that is a fun walk and usable by travelers of all skill levels. There is also a nearby golf course which is popular with those who frequent the camp regularly.
