In one of my previous posts, it was emphasized that the proper combination of foods is necessary for a person suffering from GERD, acid reflux, or any other digestive disorder due to the unhealthy mix of acid and alkaline enzymes in the body, specifically in the body. stomach. A list of three common and unhealthy food combinations was presented to encourage people to consider their diet and make the positive changes that will in turn have the greatest impact on their health.

There are three other unhealthy and alarming food combinations to avoid that basically follow the same food-combining principles: Never combine concentrated protein with starches. You can have one as long as it’s eaten on its own, or alongside fresh, high-water vegetables that are “neutral,” meaning they don’t need as much acid (if any) to digest.

1. Steak and baked potato — If you’re a steak lover and like to eat along with a baked potato, then you’re just looking for stomach trouble. Remember that when an acid and an alkali mix, they neutralize each other. This causes your stomach to slow down its digestion and, for some people, temporarily stops it. This isn’t to discourage you from eating steak… you can eat as many servings of steak as you want (figuratively speaking) as long as you pair it with, say, a salad with non-starchy veggies.

2. Rice and Chicken — Once again, this has been a favorite of many, not to be avoided, but to be enjoyed. Rice combined with chicken, whether fried or grilled, will cause digestive stagnation in the stomach. Instead, have rice with vegetables and potatoes, or eat your favorite chicken with a non-starchy salad. These small changes will definitely go a long way.

3. Turkey and Stuffing — This delicious delicacy is typically served on Thanksgiving and most special occasions. Turkey by itself is not a management problem for your digestive system. But eating it with all that stuffing, which is mostly made of starch, is not a good idea. Now that you’re familiar with a good number of these common and unhealthy food combinations, you can take steps to naturally cure your GERD, acid reflux, or whatever digestive issues you’re having by changing your eating habits and focusing on good nutrition. The choice, however, remains yours.
