The banner industry has made a lot of progress in recent years by not only adding more color variations to their product line, but also by producing more available sizes. What was once a minimal selection of banner sizes and colors has transformed into a plethora of consumer options. Now there is a size and color of canvas for almost every possible application. The most recent addition to the banner industry is the introduction of large banners.

Large tarps have been produced specifically for areas that need ample coverage, such as commercial roofs, ball fields, construction sites, and more. Availability ranges from sizes 30′ X 50′, 50′ X 50′ and can even be as large as 170′ X 170′. Tarps, particularly those made from polyethylene, have gained popularity in recent years due to their lower cost than other outdoor fabrics and their durability in both hot and cold temperatures. Polyethylene is naturally resistant to mold, rot and mildew and can be left outdoors for years without succumbing to decay caused by UV exposure. These characteristics, along with the relatively lightweight nature of polyethylene, have made polyethylene tarpaulin the best choice for outdoor draping.

Large, heavy-duty tarps are usually 12 mil. thick and fit with grommets every 18 inches. The heavy-duty canvas is made for applications that require longer coverage and to withstand long periods of exposure, each polyester canvas is triple laminated to ensure it is a fully waterproof membrane. To further enhance the longevity of a large poly tarp, manufacturers typically treat each cover inside and out with UV blockers, as well as add fade blockers, antiaging, anti-yellowing, and antimicrobial agents.

Although there are many different sizes of polyethylene tarps available, large tarps are useful in that they complete the job with the use of a single cover. It is no longer necessary to buy several smaller tarps to get a large job done, as has been the case in years past. Large tonneau covers are available in multiple colors including blue, green, silver, and white. Due to their overall size, most large banners are shipped to the consumer on a single or double pallet via LTL freight.
