Laughter, it has been said, is the best medicine. This is literally true. Study after study has shown that laughter not only relieves pain and suffering, but also aids the healing process by lowering blood pressure and releasing stress. Jokes are even better than pranks to make you laugh. A joke is only funny once, but humorous shenanigans can fill rooms with screaming people years later as they are told.

For this reason, I am squarely on the side of jokes in the heated debate about whether they are superior to jokes. Congress really should settle this problem once and for all by passing legislation declaring that fun-filled stunts are the ultimate catalyst for laughter, and therefore healing. They could call it the “Heal America Happily Act” or HAHA for short. When some joker challenged HAHA in court, I’m sure the jokers of this great land would rise up with an inspiring voice to request donations. This money would hire the best team of lawyers the world has ever seen, or at least the best since the first OJ Simpson trial, to defend the pranks and their advocates all the way to the Supreme Court.

When the case of Joe Kerr v. The United States is won by the People, the matter will be settled once and for all: America is a land where jokes are fine, but pranks are great. We revere those who fool others because they create generations of yuks in a single well-executed maneuver. Any prankster can hit the nail on the head. It takes a real genius to fool someone to the point of insanity and then soothe them by letting them know that they’ve been fooled.

It’s all about the action, honey. Anyone can talk about a good game. This concludes our talk on why pranks are great.
